As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I'm well aware of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines for influencer marketing in the United States. These guidelines are designed to ensure transparency and protect consumers by requiring influencers and brands to clearly disclose any material connection between them when endorsing products or services on social media or other platforms.
Key aspects of the FTC guidelines for influencer marketing include:
Disclosure: Influencers must disclose any financial or PHILIPPINES PHOTO EDITOR material relationships with the brand or product they are promoting. This includes sponsorships, partnerships, paid promotions, free products, or any other compensation.
Clear and Conspicuous: Disclosures must be easily noticeable and understood by the audience. They should not be buried in a long list of hashtags or placed where they may be easily missed.
Hashtags: The FTC suggests using clear and widely recognized disclosure hashtags, such as #ad, #sponsored, or #paid, to indicate that a post is a paid promotion.
Transparency: Consumers should be able to identify that a post is an advertisement or endorsement, even if they only read the disclosure and not the entire post.
Affiliate Links: If an influencer uses affiliate links to earn a commission from sales, this relationship should be disclosed.

Video and Live Streams: Disclosures must be present and easy to understand in video content and live streams as well.
Consistency: The disclosure requirement applies to all types of social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and more.
Endorsements: The FTC guidelines also cover endorsements from satisfied customers. If a brand highlights customer testimonials or endorsements in marketing materials, the material connection between the brand and the endorser must be disclosed.
Non-compliance with these guidelines may lead to FTC enforcement actions, including warnings, fines, or legal actions. It's essential for both influencers and brands to adhere to these guidelines to maintain trust and transparency in influencer marketing.
Since guidelines and regulations can evolve, I recommend checking the latest information directly from the FTC or other relevant sources to ensure compliance with the most up-to-date standards.
